Here are my Barbie Camp Photos! Our hostess welcomes all riders:
SaturdayOn Saturday, a convoy of 12-15 vehicles bristling with a total of twenty-five bikes invaded Bend, evoking envious stares from older children and fearful stares from the suburbanites on their way to Wal-Mart. Here's the scene at the lower trailhead in Shevlin Park:
Getting ready at the upper trailhead:
Hey Brandon, you posted a photo of me - I'm returning the favor. This is Tumalo Falls:
Me:
Another shot of Tumalo Falls. Note the ICE buildup in the lower left corner. It was 14 degrees that morning at BC, and probably the same or colder here:
Another waterfall: ?img src="../photos/02bc07.jpg"> You can't see it, but it was snowing lightly when I took this photo:
Look closely - the bright splotch in the background is yet anotherwaterfall:
Ho hum. Another waterfall. There were 7-8 of these on the first half of the ride. Nice.
Regroup point along the trail:
The fire.
The Schwag giveaway:
SundaySunday morning's dress parade:
Another shot of the contestants. Something is just wrong when you have a bald guy wearing a muu-muu:
Multi-vehicle accident on the Jack Creek ride caused by a broken cantilever (!) straddle cable. Believe it or not, another rider was carrying a spare:
And finally, some shots of Brian and Bob (red-haze)'s trials riding. This log is higher than it looks. Brian culminated a long series of rides over this log by riding its entire length, jumping the gap and riding over the stump at the end as well. Didn't even look like these guys were touching the log with their chainrings, and Bob was doing it all with no suspension except his 3.0" Gazzi. Amazing.
